The Effects Of Brexit On The Customs Area and Special Taxes

Tax Agency Letter

As the BREXIT is approaching and there is a strong possibility of a BREXIT without an agreement, the Tax Agency is sending letters to all the companies that operate with the United Kingdom. In these letters, all companies operating with the United Kingdom are warned of the possibility of carrying out customs controls and obtaining special licences to export to that country. If a BREXIT is produced without an agreement, the United Kingdom will for all intents and purposes become a third country (country from outside the European Union).

Customs Declaration

From the moment a BREXIT is produced without agreement, the introduction / shipment of goods from the Peninsula, Balearic or Canary Islands to the United Kingdom will require the presentation of a normal customs declaration.

VAT

The letters of the Tax Agency inform that in the matter of VAT, shipments to the United Kingdom will be exempt as exports, being the customs declaration of export one of the accepted means of proof in order to justify said exemption. On the contrary, imports from the United Kingdom will be subject to VAT payment on importation.
