Countdown to 29th March – Brexit Date
With less than two months to go until the UK is scheduled to leave the European Union, there is still no accord between the UK Parliament and the EU. Theresa May appears to be working twenty four hours a day to try and find a solution, but she needs both the EU and Parliament to agree to the deal.
With time running out before the 29th March 2019, Brexit date, an extension of the Article 50 deadline date is a possibility, and that will allow more time to try and sort out all the issues. If a long extension is granted could we be looking at a General Election or a new referendum? But Theresa May is saying that there will not be an extension to Article 50, so we are left with her deal, or no-deal.
Nothing is written in stone at this moment and that means uncertainty for the UK. In a recent Reuters poll it was found that if the UK leaves without a deal the Pound could fall up to 10% against the US Dollar, but if we leave with a deal a potential rise of 5% could be expected. The movement against the Euro would be less, as a no-deal is also bad for the EU.
